Jane Graverol - L’Esprit saint - Black Frame

A poster from Louisiana Museum of Modern Art with the artwork L’Esprit saint (The Holy Spirit, 1965) by Belgian artist Jane Graverol (1905–1984). The poster was created for Louisiana’s 2020 exhibition Fantastic Women – the first major presentation of female surrealists.

Jane Graverol was a surrealist painter, and with L’Esprit saint, she plays with Gestalt principles—especially the question of how we, as humans, perceive and organize what we see. What you see can change depending on where you focus. Do you see the blue woman or the bird?
